Quarter 0f Nine #16

Antique Tile

Antique Tile is a tradional block that is made from 9 square patches. So it is a nine-patch block. If you make one and then cut it into quarters, the result is four Quarter of Nine blocks.

For the quilt design at the start of this post four Antique Tile blocks were cut into quarters, then scrambled to make new blocks.

The following quilt design ideas are the result of playing with the colors of Antique Tile blocks and then with the way the Quarter of Nine blocks from those blocks are combined.

Playing with Quarter of Nine blocks is a bit like magic. You start with something easy to make, like an Antique Tile block, and by making a few simple changes you create something that looks anything but simple and easy. But it is.
